Although the concept of a screen and a group of screens is relatively simple, it is important to understand how Platopus Display decides what should show on a screen at any given time.
The rules of precedence are as follows:
1. Display Schedule
If a screen/display has a schedule defined and one of the rules of the schedule is active, this rule will take precedence over any group schedules or defaults which may be set.
The screen will display the content set in the active display schedule rule.
Schedules have their own precedence order which decide which rule should apply if more than one rule is active at any given time. To learn more see Understanding Rule Precedence

2. Group Schedule
If the screen/display is in a group, and the group has a schedule defined, and one of the rules of the schedule is active, this rule will take next precedence over any group or screen defaults which may be set.
The screen will display the content set in the active group schedule rule.

3. Group Default
If the screen/display is in a group, and there is no active schedule rule which applies, the group default will take precedence.
The screen will display the content set in the group default setting. Of course, the group default setting may be to defer to the display defaults (see below).
Lastly, if a group schedule does not apply, the screen will next consider the ...
4. Display Default
If none of the precedents above applies, or the group default applies but is set to follow the display default, the display default will take final precedence.
The screen will display the content set in the display default setting.
