Star TSP100IV SK hold print sensor

The hold print sensor detects whether the printed label is removed from the paper exit of the printer.

When the hold print sensor is enabled, printing of the next label will not start until the printed label is removed.
The next label printing is possible after the printed label is removed.


This function is enabled by default.

Using the Star Quick Setup Utility App

Connect to the target printer
 Star Quick Setup Utility and connect to the printer you want to setup.

Set up the hold print sensor function
  • Open [Change Printer Settings] - [Memory Switch Settings].
  • Toggle the settings of “Hold Print Control” and “Hold Print Status” to “Disabled” or “Enabled”.
  • Tap [Apply].

Setting by Printer Operation

Follow the procedure below to operate the printer.

Turn power on
  • Press the power button on the back of the printer.


Open printer cover
  • Push the opening lever  to open the printer cover .

Set up the hold print sensor function
  • Press the [FEED] button  until the Power LED (blue) begins flashing , then release it.
The blue Power LED flashes (0.25-second intervals).

  • Repeat “long press (1 second or longer) and then release” of [FEED] button  until only the Error LED*1 (red) is shown flashing. .
    *1) For TSP143UEWB SK, Power/Error LED (red)

  • The blue Power LED and red Error LED flash simultaneously (0.25-second intervals).


  • When the cover is closed, the setting mode for the hold print sensor function is entered.

  • When the [FEED] button  is pressed, the LED display content changes.
